Alfred Launches ‘Work-Fits’ and Appoints Michael Murphy as Non-Executive Director

Alfred launches Work-Fits, a benefits offering for all staff including a company wide flexi-day, which sees the office premises out of bounds one day a week, as a commitment to its approach to flexible working. It also announces the appointment of Michael Murphy as non-executive director (ex-Grayling and Weber Shandwick); in the same month it’s been shortlisted for PRCA ‘Small Consultancy of the Year’.

The multi-discipline consultancy is going through a period of rapid growth, which has seen it add the likes of Amazon.eu, Twentieth Century Fox and Pearson PLC. to its existing client list, which includes Warner Bros., Deep Silver and mindfulness for mothers app, Quility.

The flagship benefit, ‘Take Tuesday’, is a compulsory company wide flexi-day. The Alfred team decide individually what they do on a Tuesday; whether they work from home, a local cafe, client office, an inspiring location (from The Tate to the top of Primrose Hill) or a media house. The only rule is they don’t work in the office. The focus is to promote staff wellbeing and choice, and give everyone the space to balance their personal life. As well as providing the opportunity to get out and about and do something different that feeds inspiration and ultimately creativity within the agency. As part of ‘Work-Fits’ the consultancy also offers part-time flexible and remote working contracts to all, with hours to fit around childcare and other life commitments. A number of staff are employed on fully flexible working hour contracts.

Michael Murphy comments; ‘I first met Alfred without knowing a great deal about them, and have to say, I was blown away in the first five minutes. The depth of knowledge and professionalism, combined with the sheer energy and dedication of the team, is more than just refreshing. It’s driving a rapidly growing successful business, built from the ground up. Gemma and Dan are two very talented and genuine people that are creating and leading something special. I’m genuinely excited to be part of their growth story and support them in taking the business to the next level’.
